A curious case of blue tips

She may not have set foot on a major movie set in years, but sometime Hollywood actress Kate Bosworth is still a target for photographers on account of her impeccable sense of style. Like Rachel Bilson, she's frequently spotted in the front row of major fashion shows and gets invited to many a red carpet event, as her very presence implies that the designer or product being spruiked at said event is at the forefront of high fashion. Not bad work if you can get it!
It came as quite a surprise, then, to discover this recent photo of Miss Bosworth, with her trademark straight-as-a-board platinum locks dip-dyed a fetching shade of blue. The look is reminiscent of the 'scene' style of hair that dominated the grounds of colleges and universities a few years back… a kind of pre-hipster style, if you will, that had its day around about the same time Bosworth made her last successful film (2006’s Superman Returns, for anyone who needed to know).
Now, Bosworth's hair has always been on the mainstream side of the style spectrum (she tends to let her clothes do the talking) so it's curious that she would choose a colour so far removed from her usual look. Could it be that another epic hair colour revival is just around the corner? We can only speculate… so watch this space!
As for me, new motherhood continues to be awesome (as well as awesomely time consuming – really, who’d have thought?!) but I promise there will be more hairstyle tips of the meatier variety arriving later on this year.
