Dakota does the dip dye
January 20th 2012 09:58
Insert a pink-themed cliche here.... child star turned seriously talented young actress Dakota Fanning has dip-dyed her strands bright pink! She's the latest high profile blonde to test this trend in recent months (Kate Bosworth did it first, closely followed by Lauren Conrad), and I have a sneaking suspicion that she won't be the last.
The trend for boldly coloured, dip-dyed strands (and for all-over vibrant colour as well) is set to be one of the hottest looks of the year. At first glance it seems an unusual choice for the elder of the two Miss Fannings, but it's actually very much in line with Dakota's personal philosophy of doing what makes her happy - regardless of what others might have to say about it.
"You can't worry about what other people think, especially if you're a known person, or sometimes you won't be able to get out of bed," the soon-to-be 18-year-old told Elle UK recently, with a wisdom that belies her youth.
2012 looks to be a big year for Dakota. Her already stellar movie career is continuing its upward trajectory, with three of her films (Now Is Good, The Motel Life, and the finale of Breaking Dawn) all due out later this year. She's also a first-year student at NYU, and is appearing on the covers of various fashion magazines with increasing regularity.
Throw in an ad campaign or two for designer Marc Jacobs, and you wonder when she finds the time to sleep!
Still, she insists that it's not all glitz and glamour, and recently confessed that her little sister Elle is starting to give her a run for her money in the Hollywood fame stakes.
"Usually it's her sitting in pajamas waving goodbye as I go off someplace," Dakota said. "But this last year it's been me home by myself in sweatpants, saying 'Bye Elle' as she goes off somewhere all dressed up."

Dakota Fanning stepped out in Beverly Hills earlier this week with a brand new, ultra-girly hair colour.
