Dealing with long hair boredom
March 5th 2008 07:52
Sometimes, no matter how much you love your long hair, you’re going to feel bored with it. It’s inevitable – a friend will have her hair cut into a shorter, sassy style and suddenly you feel compelled to do the same. The question is, how much hair boredom is too much? At what stage should we reach the decision that it’s time for a haircut?
Essentially, the only person who can decide this is you. If you’ve had the same hairstyle for more than ten years, then it probably is time for a change. If, however, you’ve had short hair in the past and made the decision never to cut it again, then it’s high time that you remember that “I want to have long hair” period in your life. It would be sad if, after years of wanting long hair, you finally get it, then got impulsive and chose to go short again, regretting it soon after. Ask yourself this: do you desire change more than you desire long, flowing locks? If the answer is no, then follow these tips for alleviating hair boredom:
1) Find inspiration on the web. You’ve already found it here – check out my long hairstyles gallery post for some beautiful pics of long hair.
2) Look at old photos of yourself with shorter hair. Do you honestly think you look better? Or do you just look different?
3) Avoid the hairdresser at all costs. In times of hair boredom, don’t even go in there for a deep-conditioning treatment, because the haircutting all around you may provoke you to do the same. Remember, you should never do something in haste that you will regret at your leisure.
4) Finally, take extra-good care of your hair. Brush it, stroke it and savour the way it feels. You chose long hair for a reason – realise that the hair boredom you’re dealing with will pass, as all things do, and you’ll be thankful you didn’t succumb to the scissors this time around.

But it's hard to say without seeing photos. Also you shouldn't let your parents dictate what you do wih your hair... just make the change and see what they say. Good luck and thanks for commenting
