Emma Watson takes a short cut

With the filming of the last Harry Potter instalment well and truly behind her, it looks as though Emma Watson has marked the beginning of the next chapter in her life with a very short (and very chic) new haircut! She confirmed her new look on her Facebook and Twitter accounts, telling fans that her hair "Feels incredible. I love it," and posting this beautiful portrait.
She's not the first Hollywood star to have gone short this year: Hayden Panettiere, Cate Blanchett, and Renee Zellweger have all opted for boy-short locks in 2010.
With Emma's reputation as a fashion icon - and her legion of fans from her ten-year spell as Hermione Granger - there's no doubt that there will be plenty of women around the world who adopt this hairstyle in the weeks to come.
Before making any major changes like Emma has, it's always worth considering very carefully why you want to go short, and whether or not it will suit your face and your current lifestyle. Emma certainly did: she wrote on her Facebook wall that she'd wanted to make this change for a long time, and finally got the chance to at the end of her Harry Potter journey.
"I’ve wanted to do this for years and years," Watson told fans earlier this week. "It’s the most liberating thing ever."
