How often do you get your hair trimmed?

February 12th 2010 04:12
For me, it's only about once a year. Magazines and hairdressers will tell us that we need our hair trimmed every six weeks or so, but unless your hair is cut in a short style that needs frequent maintenance, it really isn't necessary to have it cut so often. And if you're growing your hair long, you'll find that getting it trimmed this regularly will result in all the new length you acquire getting cut off... making hair growing a very slow process indeed.

The one change I would make instantly, if I could, would be to have my hair at waist length. Right now it's at BSL (for the uninitiated, that's Bra Strap Length) so I will get there eventually, but probably not for two years or more. Often we want what is just out of our reach: some girls with curly hair want it to be straight, and others with fine hair would kill for a bit of volume. So what about you - if you could instantly change something about your hair, what would it be?

Whether it was bestowed upon you by your sister, a friend, or you simply read it in a magazine, there's usually one hair style tip that rates above all others. It's often very personal to your situation, but this isn't to say you can't share it with other people! The best hair style tip I ever received was to treat my hair as though it were as delicate as a fine, old piece of lace... it's made me very aware of how gentle I am with my hair and how much I handle it, and as a result my hair has never looked better! So what's the best tip you've ever received when it comes to your hair?

Long and lovely, or short and sassy?

December 17th 2009 22:08
After spending my teenage years experimenting with all lengths of hair (and all colours!) I've come to the conclusion that my hair looks its best when it's long and natural. Of course, this is not the case for everyone, with many girls loving the freedom and style of a short and sexy crop, and others opting for the in-between ease of a bob. So what I want to know is, what's your favourite hair length, and why?

I coloured my hair for years, going from blonde to black and back again, until I finally decided enough was enough and that it was time to embrace my natural light brown. I don't regret my decision, but at the same time I did have a lot of fun being a hair-colour chameleon! So what about you - do you dye your hair, get highlights, just do semi-permanents from time to time or do you think natural is best? Let me know!

Ever had a hair disaster?

December 4th 2009 08:48
Whether it's a shocker of a haircut, or a colouring session that went badly wrong, most of us have experienced a hair disaster or two. It can be nothing short of horrifying at the time, but once it's back to normal you can have a laugh about it (unless it was really, REALLY bad!) So what I want to know is: what's the worst thing that has ever happened to your hair? And how did you fix it afterward?
