Growing out a fringe

December 13th 2010 01:44
Adding a fringe to your hairstyle is a quick and easy way to alleviate hair boredom. Problem is, it's not anywhere near as quick and easy to get rid of once you've decided that you no longer want it! Growing out a fringe (also called 'bangs' if you live in the USA) will take several months to achieve and can be a very annoying process. Thankfully, there are a few steps you can take to ensure that the transition from fringed to fringe-less goes as smoothly as possible.

Getting over a bad haircut

September 13th 2010 03:14
There are few things in this world more painful than a bad haircut. Not because it's devastating on a grand scale (anyone who has lost a loved one can attest to that!) but because it's something that many people deem as being of little to no importance. "It's just hair!" they'll scoff, completely oblivious to your feelings. "It's not worth getting upset about." And when you DO get upset - which, by the way, is only natural - you feel that much worse for being upset over something that, apparently, isn't supposed to matter. Now, you not only have ugly hair, but you're being made to feel guilty about it as well.

Six reasons to love your long hair

June 13th 2010 04:53
Anyone with long hair knows that there are days when you just get tired of it. Sometimes it’s because you’re experiencing long hair boredom (those times when a change, any change, seems desirable over keeping your length) and other times it’s because it’s gotten in the way yet again (and let’s face it, the opportunities for long hair to get caught in things are virtually endless). But the fact is that if you do succumb to the scissors and get it all cut off, you’ll be missing out on what it is that made you want to become a longhair in the first place. The reasons for growing, and keeping, your long hair are going to be different for everyone, but here are my top six – no doubt one or two of them will strike a chord with you, and will hopefully encourage you to keep on growing.

Foods for faster hair growth

May 28th 2009 11:10
We all know that eating a balanced diet is essential for healthy hair, but there are certain foods that will cause your hair to grow even faster than it would with your everyday balanced diet. Eating foods that are rich in protein, as well as foods that are rich in iron, will not only keep your hair shiny and full of life, but will also allow it to grow at its fastest possible rate.

More exercise = more growth

June 4th 2008 00:56
Just in case you needed one more reason why you should exercise more, then here it is: exercise will increase your hair's growth rate. It gets your blood pumping, which increases the circulation of oxygen to your hair follicles, resulting in faster growth. Your whole body will feel healthier if you can make the time to work out three to five times a week. The key to exercise is variation; if you're not a fan of the gym then go jogging along the beach instead, go skiing, or go for a long bike ride - whichever is most convenient for you.

I'm kidding, as beautiful as it is it's way too long for me. The point is, you need to have a goal in mind if you're growing your hair. Enjoy it at all lengths, because you may not experience that length again for some time... but have a certain length in mind that you want to achieve. For me, it's waist length, and according to my calculations I'm about three years away from it

The Importance of Scalp Massage

May 27th 2008 04:28
If you're growing your hair long, then you want to know all you can to make it grow faster. This is why I cannot stress enough the importance of scalp massage. It stimulates the blood flow to your scalp and boosts the oxygen intake of your hair's follicles, resulting in faster-growing hair. Plus, it's relaxing!

Help! My hair has stopped growing

March 25th 2008 01:17
Everyone has a terminal length - that is, the length at which your hair stops growing - but for most if us it's past waist-length. If your hair has stopped growing before it gets to this length, then chances are there's a problem with your diet, environment or lifestyle.

Dealing with long hair boredom

March 5th 2008 07:52
Sometimes, no matter how much you love your long hair, you’re going to feel bored with it. It’s inevitable – a friend will have her hair cut into a shorter, sassy style and suddenly you feel compelled to do the same. The question is, how much hair boredom is too much? At what stage should we reach the decision that it’s time for a haircut?

Some tips for faster hair growth

February 13th 2008 02:02
So you’re eating a good diet and exercising regularly but your hair is still only growing 1cm a month? Try incorporating the following methods into your routine, and you may experience an increase in your hair’s natural growth rate.

1) Rosemary scalp massage: You should massage your scalp at least once weekly, it’s relaxing and eases tension as well as increasing the blood flow to your hair’s follicles. I usually include the essential oil of Rosemary in my scalp massages – it has a strong scent similar to that of eucalyptus oil – as it really makes my scalp feel alive, as though I can actually feel the hair growing. You can leave it in overnight if you want, or shampoo it out, it’ll leave your hair scented and shiny

Getting through no-man's land

January 22nd 2008 13:22
Now that’s a pretty tough title, but what I’m referring to is the period in which your hair is neither long nor short – that’s when you’re in no-man’s land. Sometimes this period can seem to take forever, and the time it sets in varies for all girls. For me, it’s the time when my hair is about three inches below my shoulders; it’s neither a bob nor a long style. It’s weather-woman length, and it’s boring as hell. I’m aiming to grow my hair to my waist, like Ella P the original owner of this blog, but I really struggle when it’s at this length. Most of the time I wear it up to vary my look.

Do hair vitamins work?

January 11th 2008 01:19
If you're keen to grow your hair long and you want it that way as quickly as possible, there are several hair vitamin formulations available over the Internet. These include the two types that I've personally tried: Hairtopia and Hair Formula 37. Both are quite pricey as the shipping from the US to Australia costs a lot, and the vitamins themselves aren't cheap either. But do they work? Here's what my experiences have been.
