The hairstyles of Australian Fashion Week 2011

Anyone who knows and loves fashion also knows that it's not just about the clothes that are being shown on the catwalks, but the overall presentation of the shows themselves - we're talking attitudes, ideas, and of course the more tangible elements like the models' hair and makeup. The 2011 Australian Fashion Week was less about theatrics and more about wearability, and naturally the models' hairstyles followed suit. Soft romantic styles, slicked-back simplicity and intricate braiding were all popular choices, with the occasional crazy style thrown in for good measure. Scroll down to check out a sample of the hairstyles that were shown on the runways of this year's Australian Fashion Week.

A modern (and highly symmetrical) version of milkmaid braids was featured on the catwalks of Magdalena Velevska...
... while the models of Ms Couture wore a single neat braid at the hairline that was the perfect complement to the show's designs.
